When researching the Cordis hotel, I came across this information.
The name “Cordis” actually means “heart” in Latin.
Inspired by that, I wanted to express that in my mural for the garage bar.
But painting a real heart on a mural was a bit tricky, since it’s not exactly the most visually appealing thing.
To convey the concept of a heart metaphorically, I thought I’d use a flower as a symbol. I didn’t pick a specific type of flower, but I made one just for this project.
Also added Chinese character 心 around the flower, which means heart.
For the background, I wanted to express Mong Kok’s vibrancy, lively, bustling and energetic feel.
Some elements I added to the design particularly gold fish, pawn sign, birds, some neons, and the main flower (The heart) are elements that represent the Mong Kok area.
